A fairy tale farm…
Tucked away in our quiet sanctuary, Treasure Meadow is home to our little backyard flock, The Lingerfelt Ladies. With a fruit grove, free-range hens, a hearty vegetable garden, and little giggles from our children, Treasure Meadow is truly a treasure.
We specialize in preserving heritage breeds. This means that the livestock and poultry we care for have intentional histories that pre-date the beginning of industrial farming.
In addition to heritage farming, we serve as an educational care farm for children. We offer private visits for homeschooling families, private small groups tours, and occasional special events.
We find so much joy in the turning of the seasons and the cycles of the garden and chickens. We hope you enjoy reading about our homestead, learning about gardening, and supporting our projects!
Our heritage approach.
We have fresh eggs, honey, a small fruit grove, a vegetable garden, and several family farm animals. Each animal on our farm serves a specific purpose and each aids the other. Our hens act as natural pest control and natural fertilizers for our garden and grove. They also forage and keep unwanted bugs at bay. Our ponies and donkey keep our pasture fresh. Our clover patches feed our honey bees. Our goats keep our tree line free from weeds and poison ivy.
Everything on our farm serves a purpose.
We place an emphasis on preserving rare breeds that were raised for specific environments. We also focus on critically endangered and at-risk breeds that are listed as “recovering” according to The Livestock Conservancy. We are fortunate to be the home for many heritage breeds of poultry, small ruminants, and equines. Each of our animals is special and we are honored to take care of them!
